The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 17th minute of the game. One of Halvorgate:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Smithville:s goal. In the 24th minute, Booker Zeigler got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Garrett Giguère had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Derek Lincoln's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hector Brock was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Derek Lincoln in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hector Brock saved Halvorgate from getting behind. 38 minutes into the match, Halvorgate's goal looked a bit too open when Garrett Giguère came free, but Hector Brock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Derek Lincoln recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Garrett Giguère to strike the kick off in the second half. It was a well-played corner which Léandre Beebe managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 58th minute, Maurice Barrière made a precise shot to the right of Lavern Rutherford. Smithville's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Hector Brock showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Garrett Giguère, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Derek Lincoln managed to get in a good position for a shot. Smithville's supporters rose to their feet, but Derek Lincoln was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hector Brock breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Garrett Giguère in the 77th minute of play forced Halvorgate's goalkeeper Hector Brock to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gaspard Cortes during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 79 played minutes Halvorgate got a freekick which was hit by Gaspard Cortes. In the 81st match minute, Halvorgate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alphonse Dunham to maneuver through the defense. Garrett Giguère received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Hector Brock tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Smithville's Garrett Giguère got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 93 minutes, Rocky Denton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Halvorgate and the Smithville players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 92 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Halvorgate! The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Smithville walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
