Shelton Ménard acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 19th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Léonard Brandt. Brain Hamm recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 25 minutes, Pablo Levine managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. chelsea's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pablo Levine was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Humberto Chadwick kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eldridge Meyer showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A very good chance. Shawenegan FC were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over chelsea's much stronger midfield.
