In the 5th minute Erasmo Shah shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvin Bonds saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Minitonas FC booed when Merritt FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joachim Betts didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Erasmo Shah's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alvin Bonds was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Gonzalo Whittington scored 1-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Johnie Cardona, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Erasmo Shah made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Erasmo Shah shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvin Bonds saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Merritt FC's zone, Erasmo Shah stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alvin Bonds came out of the goal and Erasmo Shah tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Randell Monrency received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Johnie Cardona tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Randell Monrency's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Johnie Cardona was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmo Shah in the 75th minute of play forced Merritt FC's goalkeeper Alvin Bonds to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The tension between the Minitonas FC and the Merritt FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Felicien Castaneda kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Johnie Cardona made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Gonzalo Whittington sent off a good shot on target. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
