In the 11th minute, Naujat's Aurelio Barney seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Aurelio Barney the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Naujat protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Aurelio Barney had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Naujat fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 11th minute. Penalty! When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Lane Echeverri put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Jérôme Shepard. In the 27th match minute, Naujat was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toney Hancock to maneuver through the defense. 28 minutes into the match, Naujat's goal looked a bit too open when Baptiste Poirier came free, but Jérôme Shepard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 34 minutes into the game, Irwin Joyce was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Naujat's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Edmonton the free kick. The supporters of Edmonton booed when Naujat was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Irwin Joyce didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Edmonton fans' excitement grew in the 38th match minute when Edmonton's Lane Echeverri looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 43rdth minute of the game Lane Echeverri who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Naujat's Jérôme Shepard was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Emanuel Ljungberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Newton Shearer was the one to do the kick off. Jeremiah McCloud's late challenge caught a Naujat's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jeremiah McCloud helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Naujat booed when Edmonton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeremiah McCloud didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th minute, Emanuel Ljungberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Baptiste Poirier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lane Echeverri in the 62nd minute of play forced Naujat's goalkeeper Jérôme Shepard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Toney Hancock hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Lane Echeverri had several of the Naujat's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 66 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-5 score and a disappointed Jérôme Shepard as he didn't even see the shot coming. 70 minutes into the game, Baptiste Poirier cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Jérôme Shepard was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jérôme Shepard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lane Echeverri, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Baptiste Poirier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Jérôme Shepard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 79 played minutes Lane Echeverri rounded Naujat's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-7. If Emanuel Ljungberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the match, Naujat's goal looked a bit too open when Lane Echeverri came free, but Jérôme Shepard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 89thth minute of the game Lane Echeverri who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Naujat's Jérôme Shepard was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Naujat's Jérôme Shepard proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Naujat from getting a goal against them. When the final whistle sounded Edmonton left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Naujat.
