After some careless play in the Bruno defense, Emanuel Ljungberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gayle Olson. The Bruno fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gayle Olson should have stopped the shot. Lane Echeverri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Gayle Olson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Bruno fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 29th minute. Penalty! Edmonton's Zack Chatman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Edmonton from getting a goal against them. A hard shot by Arlie Gilliam from long distance, 54 minutes into the match, got Gayle Olson's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 55 minutes into the game, Baptiste Poirier cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Gayle Olson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 63rd minute, Edmonton's Emanuel Ljungberg dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-5. Lane Echeverri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gayle Olson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. When Garth Rainey came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Bruno fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Garth Rainey couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Baptiste Poirier got free with Gayle Olson in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gayle Olson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Ljungberg in the 77th minute of the match. After having played for 80 minutes, Baptiste Poirier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Edmonton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Baptiste Poirier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 81 minutes of play, Edmonton's Baptiste Poirier made it 0-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gayle Olson was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 96th minute, Baptiste Poirier got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match was over Edmonton could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Bruno throughout the match.
