Eldridge Meyer yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gonzalo Whittington got free with Eldridge Meyer in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cesar Blackman took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eldridge Meyer. Eldridge Meyer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Neville Ashby fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alvin Bonds having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joachim Betts got free with Eldridge Meyer in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Merritt FC booed when chelsea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dillon Downs didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 31 minutes, Neville Ashby managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. chelsea's supporters crossed their fingers, but Neville Ashby was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 34th minute, Dillon Downs got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 39th minute, Gonzalo Whittington fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 42ndth minute of the game Brain Hamm who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Merritt FC's Alvin Bonds was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a little luck, chelsea's Eldridge Meyer got control of the ball when Gonzalo Whittington tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 47 played minutes Merritt FC got a freekick which was hit by Bud Huffman. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

A very good chance. The supporters of chelsea booed when Merritt FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fred Durepos didn't get a good kick on the ball.
