Spectators: 6718 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1718, VIP seats: 0) Chet Sterling started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After a defensive mix-up in Niagara's zone, Chet Sterling stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommie Gougeon came out of the goal and Chet Sterling tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Chet Sterling fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommie Gougeon having to interfere. After 14 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Niagara! Tommie Gougeon had in the 16thth minute some difficulties stopping Pablo Blake's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Chet Sterling received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Tommie Gougeon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 21 minutes, Carroll Bonilla mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Niagara and the Gorlitz AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 21 played minutes Niagara got a freekick which was hit by Carroll Bonilla. In the 28th minute Forrest Guzman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Randall Goodwin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, Gorlitz AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Forrest Guzman came free, but Randall Goodwin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Forrest Guzman in the 31st minute of play forced Gorlitz AFC's goalkeeper Randall Goodwin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute, Forrest Guzman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Niagara fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After having played for 40 minutes, Adam Shipp managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Niagara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adam Shipp was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 42nd minute Forrest Guzman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Randall Goodwin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Gorlitz AFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Niagara were winning 0-1.

Forrest Guzman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Forrest Guzman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Randall Goodwin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Forrest Guzman in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Randall Goodwin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Chet Sterling's late challenge caught a Niagara's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chet Sterling helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Gorlitz AFC's Chet Sterling got a free kick in the 60th minute. After having played for 65 minutes, Forrest Guzman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Niagara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Forrest Guzman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Randall Goodwin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Forrest Guzman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Forrest Guzman fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Niagara's protests and gave Forrest Guzman a yellow card for diving instead. Tommie Gougeon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chet Sterling's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. When Genaro Honeycutt came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Gorlitz AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Genaro Honeycutt couldn't finish the play. After 83 played minutes Gorlitz AFC got a freekick which was hit by Frederic Beal. 92 minutes into the match, Niagara's goal looked a bit too open when Genaro Honeycutt came free, but Tommie Gougeon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Randall Goodwin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Forrest Guzman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 97th minute, Roderick Grimm got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Niagara had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
