After 4 minutes of play, Ripley's Karl Spivey made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ernesto Deschamps was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tracey Tilley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dorsey Hearn in the 8th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Lynn Ouellette managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ripley's supporters rose to their feet, but Lynn Ouellette was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernesto Deschamps breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Ripley's Humbert Irizarry got a free kick in the 20th minute. In the 23rd minute, Ripley's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Lyle Boyce fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Miniota's Ernesto Deschamps played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lynn Ouellette in the 26th minute of play. Dorsey Hearn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lyle Boyce got free with Tracey Tilley in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 32nd match minute, Ripley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rudy Polk to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Karl Spivey's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ernesto Deschamps was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. If Lyle Boyce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ripley's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Miniota the free kick. After 57 played minutes Ripley got a freekick which was hit by Genaro Chang. When Dorsey Hearn came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Miniota fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dorsey Hearn couldn't finish the play. Ripley's Lynn Ouellette got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ripley had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
