The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Duffield booed when Cambridge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willian House didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd match minute, Cambridge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anibal Parnell to maneuver through the defense. Valentin Aviles hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Damien Leon's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 30thth minute, Wilbert Bellamy skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The attack was good, but when Damien Leon in the 35th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Son Hackett in the 37th minute of play forced Duffield's goalkeeper Darell Cullen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valentin Aviles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Damien Leon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Duffield's supporters rose to their feet, but Damien Leon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilbert Bellamy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wilbert Bellamy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Don Kilgore, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

Johnson Deschênes's late challenge caught a Duffield's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Darell Cullen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Son Hackett in the 64th minute. After a rather tough play, Duffield's Leon McMillan got a free kick in the 64th minute. After 83 played minutes Cambridge got a freekick which was hit by Anibal Parnell. In the 88th minute, Son Hackett left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cambridge fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Don Kilgore struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Wilbert Bellamy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Duffield. Duffield were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Cambridge to leave the ground with a draw.
