Cannington AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 20th minute Son Hackett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nigel James saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valentin Aviles struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Nigel James didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cambridge. After 24 played minutes, Cambridge's Nicolas Bishop shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nigel James came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cambridge reached it. Valentin Aviles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Nigel James tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34thth minute of the game Son Hackett who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cannington AFC's Nigel James was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Wilbert Bellamy was a little too slow when Guy Rochon got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 41st minute. The score was now 1-0. When Cambridge's Valentin Aviles in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Cambridge's supporters crossed their fingers, but Son Hackett was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 77 minutes, Nigel James successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After some careless play in the Cannington AFC defense, Son Hackett kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nigel James. The Cannington AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nigel James should have stopped the shot. Ricardo Choi struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. The Cannington AFC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cambridge had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
