Spectators: 6726 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 0) Samual Flint started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Lorenzo Cuevas kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Samual Flint fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hal Reece having to interfere. In the 10th minute, Dillon Whitt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Gronlid AFC's Mohammed Gaines tried to score from far away in the 11th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 14th minute, Barry Hughes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hilton Byrd in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hal Reece prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Barry Hughes came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Gronlid AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barry Hughes couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Samual Flint's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hal Reece was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Barry Hughes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Roland Meier having to make a save. When Irvin Leach fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vermillion's protests and gave Irvin Leach a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Vermillion's Irvin Leach got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 32nd minute, Mohammed Gaines sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Vermillion's Roland Meier didn't even have to move. Roland Meier made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Lorenzo Cuevas sent off a good shot on target. Lorenzo Cuevas, 45 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. With his leg Roland Meier managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when Gronlid AFC's Lorenzo Cuevas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Barry Hughes was the one to do the kick off. Roland Meier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lorenzo Cuevas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Barry Hughes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roland Meier having to interfere. Vermillion's Roland Meier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lorenzo Cuevas in the 55th minute of play. Hilton Byrd's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 58thth minute, Hal Reece skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Lorenzo Cuevas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Vermillion defense, Barry Hughes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Roland Meier. The Vermillion fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roland Meier should have stopped the shot. In the 66th minute Vermillion were awarded a corner. Augustine Duclos went to the cornerflag to take it. Nestor Hinson charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 74 played minutes Vermillion got a freekick which was hit by Fred McClure. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Lorenzo Cuevas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gronlid AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Lorenzo Cuevas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roland Meier breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Barry Hughes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Roland Meier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hal Reece made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samual Flint in the 89th minute of play. Vermillion's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
