The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Olen Clemons showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barry Hughes, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Barry Hughes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Olen Clemons read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. Geoffroi Ortiz hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. When Lorenzo Cuevas came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Gronlid AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lorenzo Cuevas couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Fabian Roy's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hal Reece was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Geoffroi Ortiz's late challenge caught a Gronlid AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Geoffroi Ortiz helped the player get up and apologised. In the 17th minute, Geoffroi Ortiz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Lorenzo Cuevas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Gronlid AFC's zone, Wilburn Herman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hal Reece came out of the goal and Wilburn Herman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Lorenzo Cuevas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 29 played minutes Rockport AFC got a freekick which was hit by Chester Ludwig. Lorenzo Cuevas's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Olen Clemons skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Olen Clemons made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lorenzo Cuevas in the 35th minute. When Nestor Hinson fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gronlid AFC's protests and gave Nestor Hinson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 37th match minute, Gronlid AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nestor Hinson to maneuver through the defense. If Lorenzo Cuevas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Olen Clemons showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barry Hughes in the 46th minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Barry Hughes to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Barry Hughes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olen Clemons saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hal Reece stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fabian Roy's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. Lorenzo Cuevas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Olen Clemons read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Olen Clemons made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barry Hughes in the 58th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barry Hughes in the 60th minute of play forced Rockport AFC's goalkeeper Olen Clemons to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Barry Hughes in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olen Clemons saved Rockport AFC from getting behind. In the 64th minute, Gronlid AFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Wilburn Herman fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 70th minute Fabian Roy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hal Reece saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olen Clemons took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barry Hughes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78th minute, Lorenzo Cuevas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gronlid AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Barry Hughes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lorenzo Cuevas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olen Clemons having to interfere. 95 minutes into the match, Gronlid AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Roy came free, but Hal Reece reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chester Ludwig's late challenge caught a Gronlid AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chester Ludwig helped the player get up and apologised. After 96 played minutes Rockport AFC got a freekick which was hit by Chester Ludwig. Gronlid AFC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Rockport AFC for a fine match.
