The tension between the Niagara FC and the Douglastown players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Douglastown booed when Niagara FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronny Sapp didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Johnie Rucker in the 8th minute of play forced Niagara FC's goalkeeper Ashley Storey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46th minute Eric Phaneuf shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ashley Storey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Erick Provencher made a kick off. Douglastown's Lothaire Petersen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Léonce Cummings in the 52nd minute of play. In the 54th minute, Warner Tatum made a precise shot to the right of Lothaire Petersen. Douglastown's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. The audience was convinced that Léonce Cummings's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lothaire Petersen was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. Lothaire Petersen came out of the goal and Milo Kaplan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Léonce Cummings received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Lothaire Petersen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eric Phaneuf fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ashley Storey having to interfere. Niagara FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
