Spectators: 6732 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1732, VIP seats: 0) Griswold's Tommy Flanagan started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Emerson Barger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robby Escobedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kermit Lyons, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Micheal Koch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, Sturgis FC's Robby Escobedo threw himself towards the right post 20 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kermit Lyons, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Griswold booed when Sturgis FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eric Ellis didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 28 played minutes Sturgis FC got a freekick which was hit by Kendall Mayer. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Micheal Koch managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sturgis FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Micheal Koch was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Robby Escobedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Séverin Castaneda kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Robby Escobedo made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Micheal Koch sent off a good shot on target. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kermit Lyons to strike the kick off in the second half. Tommy Flanagan kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Kermit Lyons recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Robby Escobedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Micheal Koch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kermit Lyons received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Robby Escobedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Robby Escobedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dominick Baxter, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. 74 minutes into the game, Sturgis FC's Micheal Koch nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Robby Escobedo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Emerson Barger struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Sylvain Glover didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Griswold.
