Lucien Perdue fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerard Thomas having to interfere. 5 minutes into the match, Neptune's goalkeeper Randell Coulombe had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Orval Montoya. Orval Montoya could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Randell Coulombe made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Neptune's Rene Rowland got a free kick in the 8th minute. After having played for 9 minutes, Jody Faulkner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Whelan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jody Faulkner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gerard Thomas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucien Perdue in the 11th minute of play. In the 15th minute, Eldon Elias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Neptune's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Jody Faulkner 24 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. In the 27th minute, Jody Faulkner reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Randell Coulombe. The goal made the score 2-0. Jody Faulkner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Randell Coulombe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alain Brochu hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. The supporters of Whelan booed when Neptune was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Delmer Barker didn't get a good kick on the ball. Randell Coulombe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jody Faulkner, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Gerard Thomas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brock Kearney in the 40th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Rene Rowland managed to get in a good position for a shot. Neptune's supporters rose to their feet, but Rene Rowland was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gerard Thomas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
In the 54th minute Orval Montoya shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Randell Coulombe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 54th match minute, Whelan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raymundo Leon to maneuver through the defense. Brock Kearney was extremely unlucky when he, in the 57th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Neptune's Randell Coulombe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orval Montoya in the 61st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Orval Montoya managed to get in a good position for a shot. Whelan's supporters rose to their feet, but Orval Montoya was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Randell Coulombe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jody Faulkner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 72 minutes into the game, Delmer Barker was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Neptune's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Whelan the free kick. Brock Kearneys short, quick shot in the 75thth minute got Gerard Thomas to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 78 minutes, Orval Montoya made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Neptune's Randell Coulombe tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 93rd match minute, Neptune was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Delmer Barker to maneuver through the defense. After 95 minutes, Jody Faulkner made it 4-2 with a short kick to the right side. Neptune's Randell Coulombe tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Whelan's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
