An unexpected shot in the 27th minute by Kip Cardenas got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in HEC Montreal's zone, Darell Bynum stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joan Foreman came out of the goal and Darell Bynum tried to chip the ball over his head. After a rather tough play, Retlaw's Marlin Quintana got a free kick in the 35th minute. After a defensive mix-up in HEC Montreal's zone, Danial Couturier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joan Foreman came out of the goal and Danial Couturier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lyndon Boisvert stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes of play, HEC Montreal's Kip Cardenas made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Haywood Clement was left in no man's land by his defense there! Danial Couturier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joan Foreman having to interfere. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 58th minute, but Joan Foreman got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving HEC Montreal hanging dry this time. The supporters of Retlaw booed when HEC Montreal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emon Bolduc didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joan Foreman made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Darell Bynum sent off a good shot on target. Kip Cardenas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Haywood Clement made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Casey Gonzales during the 76th minute.
