In the 25th minute, one of Deer:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Deer. A collision led to Athalmer AFC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Fernando Lockwood hit a great ball. Ferdinand Hardy took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Walton Deaton. Walton Deaton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Alejandro Schmitz received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Walton Deaton came out and tried to block the shot, but Alejandro Schmitz slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 40th minute. Rigoberto Maddox showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renard Shook, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. If Alfredo Tharp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walton Deaton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alejandro Schmitz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

In the 69th minute, Foster Kimbrough got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 70 minutes into the match, Deer's goal looked a bit too open when Renard Shook came free, but Rigoberto Maddox reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 71 played minutes Deer got a freekick which was hit by Ollie Robison. Stacy Gaillard hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Renard Shook fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rigoberto Maddox having to interfere.
