The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Deer's Rigoberto Maddox played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chester Barber in the 23rd minute of play. After 26 played minutes, Charlemagne FC's Kirk Dorsey shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rigoberto Maddox came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Charlemagne FC reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Del Lemelin in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rigoberto Maddox saved Deer from getting behind. The supporters of Charlemagne FC booed when Deer was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ollie Robison didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rigoberto Maddox took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Del Lemelin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Del Lemelin in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rigoberto Maddox saved Deer from getting behind. Charlemagne FC's Del Lemelin got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, Charlemagne FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alejandro Schmitz came free, but Christian Warner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Chester Barber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Del Lemelin to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Stacy Gaillard had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Christian Warner. Charlemagne FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stacy Gaillard was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Chester Barber's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Rigoberto Maddox firmly grabbed it by the left post. Charlemagne FC's Del Lemelin got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Christian Warner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alejandro Schmitz, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. In the 60th minute, Alejandro Schmitz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alejandro Schmitz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 63 minutes into the match, Charlemagne FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alejandro Schmitz came free, but Christian Warner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Charlemagne FC's zone, Merle Duke stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. In the 75th minute, Blaine Hernandez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 76 minutes into the match, Ferdinand Hardy had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Christian Warner. Charlemagne FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ferdinand Hardy was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Del Lemelin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chester Barber could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Rigoberto Maddox made a huge save. Rigoberto Maddox acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 88th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Walker Locke. In the 89th minute, Del Lemelin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Blaine Hernandez came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Charlemagne FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Blaine Hernandez couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Charlemagne FC booed when Deer was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ollie Robison didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Deer fans cheered their team off the field, for while Charlemagne FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
