An unexpectedly hard shot by Mickey Grondin in the 39th minute of play forced Fawcett's goalkeeper Rex Saucedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Earnest Devine went to the wrong direction when Gaspard Isaac was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Maynooth's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
