Spectators: 6724 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1724, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Damon Ware took the kick off in the first half of the match. Clyde Ryder recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alvaro Acevedo hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. With his leg Gilbert Minton managed to avoid a goal in the 11thth minute, when Newark AFC's Lamar Boggs fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. A hard shot 13 in the game by Lamar Boggs from a close distance when the talented Gilbert Minton managed to make a qualified save. Cottonwood FC's players were relieved. Kelvin Ernst kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Howard Mayberry in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilbert Minton saved Cottonwood FC from getting behind. Gilbert Minton didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lamar Boggs went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Gilbert Minton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Howard Mayberry, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32nd minute, Alvaro Acevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 33 minutes into the match, Cottonwood FC's goalkeeper Gilbert Minton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lamar Boggs. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Lamar Boggs managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newark AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Lamar Boggs was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilbert Minton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lamar Boggs got free with Gilbert Minton in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Howard Mayberry made a kick off. Gilbert Minton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lamar Boggs, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. When Lamar Boggs came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Newark AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lamar Boggs couldn't finish the play. Howard Mayberry's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gilbert Minton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. In the 71st minute, Cottonwood FC's Damon Ware ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Palmer Brooks. Palmer Brooks yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alvaro Acevedo during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Cottonwood FC's Alvaro Acevedo got a free kick in the 75th minute. Yong Autier struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Gilbert Minton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newark AFC. Lamar Boggs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Clyde Ryder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Damon Ware received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Palmer Brooks came out and tried to block the shot, but Damon Ware slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 94th minute.
