With an all-out effort, Birsay's Jefferson Steiner threw himself towards the right post 37 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Carmen Lebel, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a defensive mix-up in Stoughton's zone, Carmen Lebel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jefferson Steiner came out of the goal and Carmen Lebel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Lionel Farley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Jefferson Steiner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lionel Farley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jefferson Steiner read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Stoughton's goal looked a bit too open when Lionel Farley came free, but Jefferson Steiner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stoughton's Jefferson Steiner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lionel Farley in the 80th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 85th minute by Roberto Waters got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Stuart Therriault had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 97 minutes, Roberto Waters managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stoughton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roberto Waters was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
