If Alec Benton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andre Hull's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sterling Weller read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Anson's Sterling Weller proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Anson from getting a goal against them. Heath Lopes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isaiah Morrison, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cecil Frederick charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cecil Frederick the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 40th minute, Cecil Frederick hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Anson getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Mel Klein hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Patricia Trejo made a kick off. When Carl Stokes fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Shabaqua FC's protests and gave Carl Stokes a yellow card for diving instead. Patricia Trejo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alec Benton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64thth minute of the game Andre Hull who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Anson's Sterling Weller was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Anson's Edmond Velasquez got a free kick in the 68th minute. 74 minutes into the game, Edmond Velasquez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Anson's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Shabaqua FC the free kick. The supporters of Shabaqua FC booed when Anson was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmond Velasquez didn't get a good kick on the ball.
