Duane Zimmers short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Francis Brock to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Carol Wells received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Francis Brock came out and tried to block the shot, but Carol Wells slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 44th minute. Carl Fritz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0.
