Spectators: 6731 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1731, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Darrell Faucher started the match with the kick off. After 4 minutes, Marty Audet mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Chibougamau and the Arena FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Arena FC booed when Chibougamau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marty Audet didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lawrence Feliciano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernie Capps, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Chibougamau's Nicholas Faucher got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Bernie Capps had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 17th minute, Luis Hager hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 21st minute Darrell Faucher shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jose Paul saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 23 minutes, Nicholas Faucher managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chibougamau's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicholas Faucher was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 25 minutes into the match, Arena FC's goalkeeper Lawrence Feliciano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nicholas Faucher. Darrell Faucher took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jose Paul. Jose Paul dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 39 minutes into the game, Arena FC's Darrell Faucher nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jose Paul made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 45th minute Darrell Faucher shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jose Paul saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 46 played minutes Arena FC got a freekick which was hit by Reynaud Berg. It was beautiful to see Chibougamau's Alec Jack in action when he in the 48th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Lawrence Feliciano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernie Capps in the 53rd minute of play. In the 55th minute Chibougamau were awarded a corner. Alec Jack went to the cornerflag to take it. After a rather tough play, Arena FC's Burl Harquin got a free kick in the 55th minute. Darrell Faucher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jose Paul having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Chibougamau's Stéphane Townsend seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Stéphane Townsend the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Chibougamau protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Stéphane Townsend had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Chibougamau fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 64th minute. Penalty! Dallas Benson shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. If Nicholas Faucher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Burl Harquin struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Jose Paul didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Arena FC. Jose Paul showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darrell Faucher in the 77th minute of the match. Burl Harquin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jose Paul having to interfere. Jose Paul took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Darrell Faucher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Apollinaire Stewart's late challenge caught a Chibougamau's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Apollinaire Stewart helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicholas Faucher in the 90th minute of play forced Arena FC's goalkeeper Lawrence Feliciano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nicholas Faucher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Lawrence Feliciano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 95 played minutes, Chibougamau's Alec Jack shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lawrence Feliciano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Chibougamau reached it. Lawrence Feliciano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Hager, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute.
