Seating: 1724, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Carol Wells got the match started through his kick off. Chas Ellison showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernie Capps, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. 10 minutes into the game, Bernie Capps recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Chas Ellison. Bernie Capps showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Chas Ellison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernie Capps in the 14th minute of the match. If Duane Zimmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Chibougamau fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when Chibougamau's Bernie Capps looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Carol Wells struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Jose Paul didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Walsh. Duane Zimmer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jose Paul having to interfere. Bernie Capps might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chas Ellison. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bernie Capps ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Walsh getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Caleb Schulz hit a great ball. If Bernie Capps had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
Chas Ellison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicholas Faucher in the 52nd minute of the match. In the 56thth minute of the game Nicholas Faucher who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Walsh's Chas Ellison was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bernie Capps struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Chas Ellison didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chibougamau. Nicholas Faucher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Chas Ellison tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bernie Capps might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chas Ellison. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bernie Capps ran back to his position shaking his head. Chas Ellison took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernie Capps, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Nicholas Faucher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicholas Faucher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Chas Ellison tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nicholas Faucher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Chibougamau's zone, Duane Zimmer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jose Paul came out of the goal and Duane Zimmer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Chibougamau's Rusty Johnston got a free kick in the 93rd minute. When Rocco Whitaker came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Walsh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rocco Whitaker couldn't finish the play.
