After a rather tough play, Richmond's Brice Bérard got a free kick in the 2nd minute. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Shabagua's goalkeeper Francis Brock, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carl Fritz in the 22nd minute of play forced Richmond's goalkeeper Prosper Osborn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Wilbert Douglas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Prosper Osborn was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Prosper Osborn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilbert Douglas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 29 minutes, Wilbert Douglas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Shabagua's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilbert Douglas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Prosper Osborn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilbert Douglas in the 32nd minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Richmond's Claude Rushing sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Francis Brock narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 37th minute, Bruce Bates got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wilbert Douglas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Prosper Osborn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Bruce Bates made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Richmond getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Claude Rushing hit a great ball. In the 54th minute, Carl Fritz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilbert Douglas in the 55th minute of play forced Richmond's goalkeeper Prosper Osborn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A very good chance. Shabagua's Francis Brock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruce Bates in the 69th minute of play. A collision led to Shabagua getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Jerold Moreland hit a great ball. When Richmond's Claude Rushing in 71 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Francis Brock guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Bruce Bates fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francis Brock having to interfere. Prosper Osborn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilbert Douglas in the 78th minute of the match. Prosper Osborn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilbert Douglas in the 85th minute of play. Bruce Bates sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Shabagua getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Thad Lyle hit a great ball. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Richmond's goalkeeper Prosper Osborn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Claude Rushing recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
