Johnie Boswell ran back to his position shaking his head. Through an outstanding action, after 16 minutes, Marco Pate successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 18 minutes into the match, Alberni's goalkeeper Marco Pate had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfonso Shapiro. Alfonso Shapiros short, quick shot in the 20thth minute got Marco Pate to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in Hope's zone, Darin Andrews stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sebastian Baca came out of the goal and Darin Andrews tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Alberni getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Albert Lanctot hit a great ball. Marco Pate acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 29th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Gilbert Seals. Alfonso Shapiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Marco Pate tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Alfonso Shapiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Alberni getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Bradly Jodion hit a great ball. 43 minutes into the match, Hope's goal looked a bit too open when Darin Andrews came free, but Sebastian Baca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Johnie Boswell was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Alberni booed when Hope was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Art Sapp didn't get a good kick on the ball. 54 minutes into the match, Hope's goalkeeper Sebastian Baca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Darin Andrews.
