The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rufus Lehman's late challenge caught a Kangerthialuksoak AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rufus Lehman helped the player get up and apologised. After 6 played minutes Wetaskiwin got a freekick which was hit by Rufus Lehman. After 12 played minutes Kangerthialuksoak AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ignace Griffith. Wetaskiwin's Tyler Flamand couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 13th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Kangerthialuksoak AFC. After 18 played minutes, Wetaskiwin's Tyler Flamand shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Merle Burrows came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wetaskiwin reached it. Chet Shields received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Merle Burrows came out and tried to block the shot, but Chet Shields slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 20th minute. Jason Hargrove received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Pat Pate tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chad Corey kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Jason Hargrove sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jason Hargrove had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pat Pate made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jason Hargrove in the 47th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Chet Shields was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Kangerthialuksoak AFC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Sydney Guillory hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Chet Shields's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Merle Burrows was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Jason Hargrove sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Wetaskiwin's Pat Pate got control of the ball when Jason Hargrove tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Chad Corey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 66th minute, Ignace Griffith hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. But to his dismay, Chet Shields quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. When Wetaskiwin's Emmitt Funk in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Kangerthialuksoak AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Merle Burrows showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emmitt Funk in the 85th minute of the match. Emmitt Funk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Merle Burrows tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Merle Burrows made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chet Shields in the 96th minute of play. The Wetaskiwin players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
