Spectators: 6722 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1722, VIP seats: 0) Dieppe's Clarence Slaughter started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pat Pate made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clarence Slaughter in the 10th minute of play. After 12 minutes, Chad Corey mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wetaskiwin and the Dieppe players grew even worse after the yellow card. Clair Brewster hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Clair Brewster during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Dieppe getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Clair Brewster hit a great ball. Clarence Slaughter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pat Pate having to interfere. Wetaskiwin's Pat Pate played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clarence Slaughter in the 35th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Wetaskiwin's Chet Shields got a free kick in the 38th minute. Clarence Slaughter recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Dieppe players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Wetaskiwin were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Chet Shields stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Clarence Slaughter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 56th minute, Clarence Slaughter ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pat Pate was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Clarence Slaughter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Pat Pate tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Chet Shields came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Wetaskiwin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chet Shields couldn't finish the play. Clarence Slaughter took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pat Pate. Pat Pate dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Pat Pate showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clarence Slaughter, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Clarence Slaughter in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pat Pate prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
