Mattice's John Cornett proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Mattice from getting a goal against them. In the 21st minute, Titus Broussard got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. John Zoolingen scored 4-0 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of John Cornett, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leopoldo Navarro to make the kick off.
