In the 3rd minute Norman Villanueva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmund Sexton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Chevaliers de Québec booed when Madawaska FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernie Cartwright didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jude Robison kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Madawaska FC's zone, Clemente Blanco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmund Sexton came out of the goal and Clemente Blanco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 11 minutes into the match, Chevaliers de Québec's John Zoolingen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edmund Sexton narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Chevaliers de Québec's John Zoolingen in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Madawaska FC's goalie prevented a goal. Norman Villanueva blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edmund Sexton having to make a save. In the 25th minute, Clemente Blanco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Laurent Bartley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jay McDonough having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Quincy McCall reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jay McDonough. The goal made the score 1-0. Edmund Sexton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of John Zoolingen's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Quincy McCall in the 34th minute of play forced Chevaliers de Québec's goalkeeper Jay McDonough to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. John Zoolingen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 38th match minute, Chevaliers de Québec was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Theo Guilmette to maneuver through the defense. Chevaliers de Québec's John Zoolingen got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Madawaska FC's Edmund Sexton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Zoolingen in the 46th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Quincy McCall to strike the kick off in the second half. Madawaska FC's Jude Robison managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Norman Villanueva in the 53 minute of the game. Len Evans took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 59th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jay McDonough. Chevaliers de Québec's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Chevaliers de Québec's zone, Quincy McCall stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jay McDonough came out of the goal and Quincy McCall tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 65th minute, Jamel Rouse hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 68th minute Norman Villanueva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmund Sexton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 70 minutes, Norman Villanueva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chevaliers de Québec's supporters crossed their fingers, but Norman Villanueva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. John Zoolingen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edmund Sexton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. Madawaska FC's Edmund Sexton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Madawaska FC from getting a goal against them. After 77 minutes Madawaska FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jamel Rouse who took care of the corner kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, John Zoolingen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chevaliers de Québec's supporters rose to their feet, but John Zoolingen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edmund Sexton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Titus Broussard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Edmund Sexton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Madawaska FC getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Len Evans hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Titus Broussard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chevaliers de Québec's supporters rose to their feet, but Titus Broussard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edmund Sexton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that John Zoolingen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edmund Sexton was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. After some careless play in the Chevaliers de Québec defense, Quincy McCall kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jay McDonough. The Chevaliers de Québec fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jay McDonough should have stopped the shot. Norman Villanueva was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 94th minute. Chevaliers de Québec's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Madawaska FC's Edmund Sexton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Madawaska FC from getting a goal against them. The Madawaska FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
