Spectators: 6724 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1724, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Leon Nadeau kicked off to start the match. Paschal Noël recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 8th minute Barton Werner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Connie Kimbrough saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Connie Kimbrough showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barton Werner in the 10th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dirk Aponte got free with Nigel Veilleux in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A hard shot 17 in the game by Dirk Aponte from a close distance when the talented Nigel Veilleux managed to make a qualified save. Downsview's players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barton Werner in the 21st minute of play forced Hectanooga's goalkeeper Connie Kimbrough to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th minute, Barton Werner made a precise shot to the right of Connie Kimbrough. Hectanooga's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. When Dirk Aponte came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Hectanooga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dirk Aponte couldn't finish the play. After having played for 34 minutes, Leon Nadeau managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hectanooga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leon Nadeau was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Barton Werner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Connie Kimbrough having to interfere. After 39 minutes, Boyce Holley mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hectanooga and the Downsview players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 39th match minute, Hectanooga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boyce Holley to maneuver through the defense. 0-2 became the score in the 40th minute when Barton Werner elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After the first half Downsview were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Barton Werner to make the kick off. Larry Denson's late challenge caught a Hectanooga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Larry Denson helped the player get up and apologised. Connie Kimbrough made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paschal Noël in the 59th minute. 69 minutes into the match, Hectanooga's goal looked a bit too open when Barton Werner came free, but Connie Kimbrough reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Barton Werner was extremely unlucky when he, in the 71st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Dirk Aponte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nigel Veilleux having to interfere. 75 minutes into the match, Downsview's goal looked a bit too open when Leon Nadeau came free, but Nigel Veilleux reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Downsview's zone, Dirk Aponte stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nigel Veilleux came out of the goal and Dirk Aponte tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Barton Werner came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Downsview fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barton Werner couldn't finish the play. Dirk Aponte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Paschal Noël could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Connie Kimbrough made a huge save. After recieving a nice pass, Downsview's Larry Denson tried to score from far away in the 91st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Paschal Noël sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Barton Werner blasted a shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Connie Kimbrough having to make a save. Downsview's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
