Seating: 1722, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Monte Paige kicked off to start the match. Randall Busby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Delmar Bernier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Lynwood Roper tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 8 minutes into the match, Villeneuve's goal looked a bit too open when Randall Busby came free, but Lynwood Roper reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Pittsburgh's Donn Waldron got control of the ball when Frankie Brady tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Monte Paige managed to get in a good position for a shot. Villeneuve's supporters rose to their feet, but Monte Paige was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donn Waldron breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Curtis Blum got free with Donn Waldron in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 17 minutes into the match, Villeneuve's Curtis Blum sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Donn Waldron narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lynwood Roper showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Delmar Bernier in the 20th minute of the match. Delmar Bernier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lynwood Roper having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Pittsburgh's Marcel Calhoun got a free kick in the 38th minute. Pittsburgh's Randall Busby got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Randall Busby might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lynwood Roper. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Randall Busby ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Pittsburgh getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Adrian Toney hit a great ball. 47 minutes into the match, Pittsburgh's goal looked a bit too open when Monte Paige came free, but Donn Waldron reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
Villeneuve's Lynwood Roper proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Villeneuve from getting a goal against them. When Pittsburgh's Delmar Bernier in the 55th minute got a chance for a shot 55th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Villeneuve's goalie prevented a goal. Long Pierce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Donn Waldron tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lynwood Roper stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Delmar Bernier's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. Monte Paige sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 82 minutes into the game, Curtis Blum cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Donn Waldron was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Donn Waldron made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curtis Blum in the 87th minute of play. After having played for 88 minutes, Delmar Bernier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pittsburgh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Delmar Bernier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Villeneuve's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
