The Forward fans' excitement grew in the 24th match minute when Forward's Sammy Tessier looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In a very dangerous position, a player in ARMY CANADA fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 27th minute. Penalty! In the 30th minute, Forward got a penalty, and Dwayne Bonneville placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. Forward's supporters rose to their feet, but Sammy Tessier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Orville Titus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Forward's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 64th minute, Kristopher Bowser ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gale Sutherland was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. The audience was convinced that Lyman Frazier's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Orville Titus was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. Despite being the better team, Forward failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
