Whaletown
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) 6 minutes into the match, Whaletown's goal looked a bit too open when Frankie Duff came free, but Brant Bacon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Quinton McKay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Brant Bacon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 12 minutes into the match, Bugatti's goalkeeper Hassan Sabourin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dylan Bureau. Isaiah Tharp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Adam Lemaître fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bugatti's protests and gave Adam Lemaître a yellow card for diving instead. After having played for 23 minutes, Frankie Duff managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bugatti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frankie Duff was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Brant Bacon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Chase Montgomery went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Isaiah Tharp who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 28thth minute tested the skills of Hassan Sabourin when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 31st minute, Dylan Bureau had to leave the field with a concussion. After 31 minutes, Douglas Salazar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bugatti and the Whaletown players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 32 played minutes Bugatti got a freekick which was hit by Douglas Salazar. Hassan Sabourin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isaiah Tharp in the 37th minute of play. Rolando Clavet hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Isaiah Tharp struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Hassan Sabourin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Whaletown. Quinton McKay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Brant Bacon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Quinton McKay took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Brant Bacon. Brant Bacon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
When Isaiah Tharp came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Whaletown fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isaiah Tharp couldn't finish the play. Hung Swenson might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hassan Sabourin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hung Swenson ran back to his position shaking his head. Bugatti's Hassan Sabourin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hung Swenson in the 60th minute of play. If Isaiah Tharp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frankie Duff in the 64th minute of play forced Whaletown's goalkeeper Brant Bacon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Bugatti's zone, Isaiah Tharp stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hassan Sabourin came out of the goal and Isaiah Tharp tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 70th match minute, Whaletown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Howard Nickerson to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Brant Bacon managed to avoid a goal in the 71stth minute, when Bugatti's Quinton McKay fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Hassan Sabourin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Howard Nickerson's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. Hung Swenson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Hassan Sabourin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Quinton McKay's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 84thth minute, Brant Bacon skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. A collision led to Whaletown getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Guy Locke hit a great ball. The Bugatti players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
