Ward Espinoza kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. In the 5th minute, Wilmer Therrien got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Plunkett getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Lionel Hatcher hit a great ball. Cornelius Cahill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clément McMullen having to interfere. After 12 played minutes Iona got a freekick which was hit by Warren Phipps. After some careless play in the Plunkett defense, Jan Arpin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Onesime Hyatt. The Plunkett fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Onesime Hyatt should have stopped the shot. Clément McMullen didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Plunkett's Cornelius Cahill shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Onesime Hyatt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan Arpin in the 28th minute of play. Lionel Hatcher charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lionel Hatcher the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lionel Hatcher hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. 33 minutes into the match, Iona's goal looked a bit too open when Cornelius Cahill came free, but Clément McMullen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tory Adkins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Clément McMullen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Tory Adkins came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Plunkett fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tory Adkins couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Iona's Thad Patenaude got a free kick in the 48th minute. Iona's Clément McMullen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 49th minute of the match, managed to save Iona from getting a goal against them. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jan Arpin to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, Quinn Lemaître mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Plunkett and the Iona players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 53rd minute, Quinn Lemaître hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clément McMullen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cornelius Cahill in the 55th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Tory Adkins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Plunkett's supporters rose to their feet, but Tory Adkins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clément McMullen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Iona's zone, Tory Adkins stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clément McMullen came out of the goal and Tory Adkins tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 61 minutes into the game, when Edwin Desnoyers put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Iona fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 61st minute. Penalty! In the 63rd minute there was a penalty for Plunkett. Bradford McGee stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Clément McMullen. 2-1. Wilmer Therrien's late challenge caught a Plunkett's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wilmer Therrien helped the player get up and apologised. In the 66th match minute, Iona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilmer Therrien to maneuver through the defense. Tory Adkins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Clément McMullen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 88th minute Tory Adkins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clément McMullen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cornelius Cahill kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Cornelius Cahill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tory Adkins in the 95th minute of play forced Iona's goalkeeper Clément McMullen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Cornelius Cahill came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Plunkett fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cornelius Cahill couldn't finish the play. Plunkett walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
