Joey Eastman dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. A collision led to FC Montreal 2012 getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Hoyt Earl hit a great ball. In the 13th minute Jan Arpin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joey Eastman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jan Arpin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to FC Montreal 2012 getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Vincent Sherman hit a great ball. Iona's Wilmer Therrien couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 19th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for FC Montreal 2012. In the 21st minute, Jan Arpin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 26th minute, Enoch Gray hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Justin Lowry struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Joey Eastman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Iona. Perry Keller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Clément McMullen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lupe Fontaine in the 37th minute of play forced Iona's goalkeeper Clément McMullen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Perry Keller could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Clément McMullen made a huge save. If Lupe Fontaine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joey Eastman came out of the goal in the 48th minute to try and stop a shot by Iona's Jan Arpin. But to his dismay, Jan Arpin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jan Arpin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Justin Lowry notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of FC Montreal 2012's Joey Eastman. Joey Eastman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jan Arpin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Joey Eastman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jan Arpin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Iona booed when FC Montreal 2012 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daryl Gilliam didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Montreal 2012's Joey Eastman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save FC Montreal 2012 from getting a goal against them. Justin Lowry received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Joey Eastman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Iona's zone, Lupe Fontaine stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clément McMullen came out of the goal and Lupe Fontaine tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A very nice done corner allowed Christoper Stiles to score against Clément McMullen in Iona's goal. 1-3 after 86 minutes. When Vincent Sherman came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the FC Montreal 2012 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vincent Sherman couldn't finish the play. FC Montreal 2012's Joey Eastman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan Arpin in the 98th minute of play. The Iona players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
