In the 5th match minute, Newtown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Margarito Deniger to maneuver through the defense. Johnie Landry blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Herschel Gallegos having to make a save. Herschel Gallegos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Johnie Landry in the 11th minute. Herschel Gallegos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tobias Caron, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Herschel Gallegos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Margarito Deniger in the 19th minute of the match. Tobias Caron could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Herschel Gallegos made a huge save. With his leg Herschel Gallegos managed to avoid a goal in the 27thth minute, when Newtown's Margarito Deniger fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Johnie Landry's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 30thth minute, Herschel Gallegos skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The referee ignored FC Barcelone's protests and gave Donnell Helton a yellow card for diving instead. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dante Pritchett made a kick off. FC Barcelone's Herschel Gallegos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johnie Landry in the 52nd minute of play. Léonard Hackett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Barcelone. Newtown's supporters crossed their fingers, but Johnie Landry was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Herschel Gallegos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Margarito Deniger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herschel Gallegos having to interfere. When Johnie Landry came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Newtown fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Johnie Landry couldn't finish the play. In the 96th minute Johnie Landry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herschel Gallegos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
