Bobbie Paul started the match with the kick off. Kelvin Dick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Portage booed when Saskatoon Blades was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clemente Wiley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Claude Fugère took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bobbie Paul, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 14 minutes into the match, Saskatoon Blades's goal looked a bit too open when Bobbie Paul came free, but Claude Fugère reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Claude Fugère came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Portage's Bobbie Paul. But to his dismay, Bobbie Paul quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Désiré Rudd kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Nelson Wynn made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Irvin Skinner sent off a good shot on target. In the 46th minute Jeffrey Malone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claude Fugère saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kelvin Dick stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Irvin Skinner's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nelson Wynn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. 55 minutes into the match, Saskatoon Blades's Sherman Roach sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nelson Wynn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Irvin Skinner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Nelson Wynn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 61st minute, Bobbie Paul reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Claude Fugère. The goal made the score 0-2. Bobbie Paul sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeffrey Malone could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Claude Fugère made a huge save. Bobbie Paul fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claude Fugère having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Saskatoon Blades's zone, Antwan Culver stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Claude Fugère came out of the goal and Antwan Culver tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Portage booed when Saskatoon Blades was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodolphe Little didn't get a good kick on the ball. Clemente Wiley hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Désiré Rudd shot from long distance in the 96th minute, but Claude Fugère was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. When the match was over Portage could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Saskatoon Blades throughout the match.
