The ball went over the crossbar instead. 12 minutes into the match, Irvin Skinner notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Canyon's Lane Lereau. Lane Lereau was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Claude Fugère showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Malcolm Lincoln in the 16th minute of the match. In the 17th minute, Bobby Cruz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 28 minutes of play, Canyon's Bobby Cruz made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Claude Fugère was left in no man's land by his defense there! The wind increased when Malcolm Lincoln made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Bobby Cruz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Canyon fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. A collision led to Canyon getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Bobby Cruz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Claude Fugère read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Saskatoon Blades reached it.
