Spectators: 8038 (Terracing: 6029, Seating: 1849, VIP seats: 160) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Carey Faure started the match with the kick off. Hershel Hoyt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rafael Andrade read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. Virgil Wagner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carey Faure, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. A hard shot 9 in the game by Rudy Dubois from a close distance when the talented Virgil Wagner managed to make a qualified save. Athabasca AFC's players were relieved. After 14 minutes, Quinton Lamare mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gargoyle FC and the Athabasca AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 14th minute, Quinton Lamare hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Athabasca AFC booed when Gargoyle FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quinton Lamare didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rafael Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lyndon Cardona in the 19th minute of play. In the 22nd match minute, Gargoyle FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reyes Beaupré to maneuver through the defense. If Hershel Hoyt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lyndon Cardona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rudy Dubois fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgil Wagner having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carey Faure in the 35th minute of play forced Athabasca AFC's goalkeeper Virgil Wagner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hershel Hoyt struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Rafael Andrade didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Athabasca AFC. 41 minutes into the match, Athabasca AFC's goalkeeper Virgil Wagner had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rudy Dubois. Rafael Andrade took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lyndon Cardona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lyndon Cardona to make the kick off. Athabasca AFC's Lyndon Cardona got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rudy Dubois sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lyndon Cardona recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rafael Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lyndon Cardona in the 73rd minute of the match. After having played for 78 minutes, Rudy Dubois managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gargoyle FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rudy Dubois was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 90th minute of the match Athabasca AFC got a corner. Gargoyle FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Narcisse Bienvenue ran over to the corner to take the kick. Virgil Wagner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rudy Dubois, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Athabasca AFC's Virgil Wagner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carey Faure in the 97th minute of play. The Athabasca AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Athabasca AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
