Erich Courtemanche kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Ferdinand Boyle managed to get in a good position for a shot. The Friction's supporters rose to their feet, but Ferdinand Boyle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Woodrow Lampron breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Glenn Hinton got free with Julio Garland in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Ferdinand Boyle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daren Hawthorne stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
