Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Hedley's Valère Boles started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Hedley booed when Shawinigan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cleveland Golden didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nathan Eckert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valère Boles in the 10th minute of play. After 12 played minutes, Hedley's Lothaire Waters shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nathan Eckert came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hedley reached it. Valère Boles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nathan Eckert having to interfere. Valère Boles might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nathan Eckert. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Valère Boles ran back to his position shaking his head. After 17 minutes, Orville Guidry mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Shawinigan and the Hedley players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Shawinigan's Orville Guidry got a free kick in the 17th minute. A collision led to Hedley getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Hayden McCracken hit a great ball. After 24 played minutes Hedley got a freekick which was hit by Lothaire Waters. Luther Costello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alain Goddard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot 29 in the game by Antonio Moore from a close distance when the talented Nathan Eckert managed to make a qualified save. Shawinigan's players were relieved. Alain Goddard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valère Boles in the 38th minute of play forced Shawinigan's goalkeeper Nathan Eckert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alain Goddard to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Jordan Holbrook was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hedley's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Shawinigan the free kick. After 53 played minutes Hedley got a freekick which was hit by Jordan Holbrook. After 59 minutes of play, Hedley's Antonio Moore made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nathan Eckert was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Valère Boles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antonio Moore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nathan Eckert having to interfere. Antonio Moore scored 2-0 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nathan Eckert, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Antonio Moore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Nathan Eckert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luther Costello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alain Goddard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 98th minute, Orville Guidry reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Luther Costello. The goal made the score 3-1. Hedley walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
