An unexpectedly hard shot by Raphael Brian in the 4th minute of play forced The Friction's goalkeeper Julio Garland to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Scottie Chamberlain sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Toronto AFC's Houston Grimes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Toronto AFC from getting a goal against them. Houston Grimes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daren Hawthorne in the 10th minute of the match. In the 18th minute Daren Hawthorne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Houston Grimes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ferdinand Boyle in the 23rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Houston Grimes, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Scottie Chamberlain struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Julio Garland didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Toronto AFC. If Daren Hawthorne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Houston Grimes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daren Hawthorne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daren Hawthorne in the 33rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Houston Grimes, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Ferdinand Boyle who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 35thth minute tested the skills of Houston Grimes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Daren Hawthorne came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the The Friction fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daren Hawthorne couldn't finish the play. If Daren Hawthorne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute, Daren Hawthorne got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Raphael Brian stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Louis Beck hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Raphael Brian's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Garland read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Al Cotton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Houston Grimes came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by The Friction's Ferdinand Boyle. But to his dismay, Ferdinand Boyle quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Daren Hawthorne took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Houston Grimes. Houston Grimes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Daren Hawthorne's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Houston Grimes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Claude Donnelly hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Scottie Chamberlain sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. The Friction fully deserved thier win.
