Rapid Vienna's Abe Canales played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elroy Moser in the 24th minute of play. Elroy Moser took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Abe Canales. Abe Canales dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Toronto FC's Florencio Moss got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Elroy Moser had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Rapid Vienna getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Tory Burt hit a great ball. Rapid Vienna's Abe Canales played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elroy Moser in the 38th minute of play. Florencio Moss fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abe Canales having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Elroy Moser made a precise shot to the right of Abe Canales. Rapid Vienna's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. When Florencio Moss came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Toronto FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florencio Moss couldn't finish the play. 48 minutes into the match, Toronto FC's Florencio Moss sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Abe Canales narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Raoul Labrie made a kick off. Bart Shipp's late challenge caught a Rapid Vienna's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bart Shipp helped the player get up and apologised. Abe Canales showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elroy Moser, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Raoul Labrie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Toronto FC's Frank Doran got a free kick in the 61st minute. Tory Burt hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Elroy Moser's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Abe Canales read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. If Florencio Moss had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Rapid Vienna getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Antoine Coronado hit a great ball. Bart Shipp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Elroy Moser kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Abe Canales. That made the score 0-3 in the 93 minute of play. Toronto FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
