Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Lesueur's Eli Rudolph started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Donovan Byrd hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. The supporters of Lesueur booed when Laval Canadians was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hercule Deleon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eli Rudolph received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Preston Phillips tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Laval Canadians's zone, Eli Rudolph stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Preston Phillips came out of the goal and Eli Rudolph tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Lesueur's Eli Rudolph in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Laval Canadians's goalie prevented a goal. In the 14th minute Dee Lancaster shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Preston Phillips saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Darren Aupry hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. If Eli Rudolph had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Eli Rudolph's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Preston Phillips was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. When Lesueur's Eli Rudolph in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Preston Phillips made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Hercule Deleon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
Renaud Reed took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hercule Deleon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eli Rudolph sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dee Lancaster struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Preston Phillips didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lesueur. If Dee Lancaster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Preston Phillips made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eli Rudolph in the 78th minute of play. Dee Lancaster struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Preston Phillips didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lesueur. Frederick Fournier charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Frederick Fournier the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 90 played minutes Laval Canadians got a freekick which was hit by Frederick Fournier. Lesueur played a much better game than Laval Canadians and deserved their victory. The Laval Canadians players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
