Spectators: 7348 (Terracing: 5500, Seating: 1848, VIP seats: 0) West Toronto FC's Bob Cardwell started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 11 minutes, Heriberto Lacey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Markland Legends FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Heriberto Lacey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ronald Owens hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Shawn Messer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Markland Legends FC booed when West Toronto FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronald Owens didn't get a good kick on the ball. Markland Legends FC's Titus Bunch couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 27th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for West Toronto FC. After a defensive mix-up in West Toronto FC's zone, Telesphore Tessier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shayne Steiner came out of the goal and Telesphore Tessier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Shayne Steiner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Telesphore Tessier in the 32nd minute of the match. Shayne Steiner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Telesphore Tessier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Shayne Steiner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Telesphore Tessier in the 36th minute of play. If Telesphore Tessier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Heriberto Lacey blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Shayne Steiner having to make a save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 51st match minute, Markland Legends FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Telesphore Tessier to maneuver through the defense. Heriberto Lacey's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shayne Steiner read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Ollie Cross hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. In the 59th minute, Telesphore Tessier got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 60 minutes, Leonard Huntley mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the West Toronto FC and the Markland Legends FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Leonard Huntley kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Markland Legends FC's Telesphore Tessier got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Shayne Steiner was a little too slow when Telesphore Tessier got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 64th minute. The score was now 0-2. Markland Legends FC's Heriberto Lacey got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Telesphore Tessier's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shayne Steiner read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Titus Bunch hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. West Toronto FC's Shayne Steiner proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save West Toronto FC from getting a goal against them. If Heriberto Lacey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Heriberto Lacey could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Shayne Steiner made a huge save. If Telesphore Tessier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Heriberto Lacey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shayne Steiner having to interfere. Shayne Steiner made an important save on a dangerous shot by Heriberto Lacey in the 88th minute. Shayne Steiner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Telesphore Tessier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Heriberto Lacey struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Shayne Steiner didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Markland Legends FC. In the 95th minute, Heriberto Lacey got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match was over Markland Legends FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than West Toronto FC throughout the match.
