The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 8th minute of the game. One of Toronto FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Regina Fighters:s goal. After a rather tough play, Toronto FC's Rodger Hendrickson got a free kick in the 13th minute. Alfonso Bossé showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Constantin Benoit in the 15th minute of the match. Toronto FC's Cesar Mailly played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel Page in the 18th minute of play. Cesar Mailly showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jordan Bishop, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. In the 30thth minute of the game Fredric Gibbs who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Toronto FC's Cesar Mailly was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fredric Gibbs got in the 31st a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Cesar Mailly handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Rodger Hendrickson kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Fredric Gibbs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Cesar Mailly tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 36 minutes, Jordan Bishop managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Regina Fighters's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jordan Bishop was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 37 minutes, Rodger Hendrickson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Toronto FC and the Regina Fighters players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 37th match minute, Toronto FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodger Hendrickson to maneuver through the defense. Absolon Mims was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 47 minutes into the match, Fredric Gibbs had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cesar Mailly. Toronto FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fredric Gibbs was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

If Fredric Gibbs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 58 played minutes Regina Fighters got a freekick which was hit by Winston Bowden. 59 minutes into the game, Milford Caouette was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Toronto FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Regina Fighters the free kick. A collision led to Toronto FC getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Milford Caouette hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Fredric Gibbs kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cesar Mailly. That made the score 2-2 in the 60 minute of play. In the 63rd minute, Jordan Bishop hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cesar Mailly showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jordan Bishop in the 65th minute of the match. Fredric Gibbs's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cesar Mailly read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. Alfonso Bossé showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Papillion Coyle in the 77th minute of the match. Cesar Mailly didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fredric Gibbs went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. The supporters of Regina Fighters booed when Toronto FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Billie Robles didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 87thth minute of the game Fredric Gibbs who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Toronto FC's Cesar Mailly was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Constantin Benoit scored 3-3 in the 98th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alfonso Bossé, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Toronto FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Regina Fighters had controlled the match.
