The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Albany AFC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Toney McAllister hit a great ball. Percy Ruth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederic Jimenez having to interfere. Percy Ruth's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frederic Jimenez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Percy Ruth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Frederic Jimenez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Joël John made the kick off in the second half. Gaétan Cyr hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Frederic Jimenez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percy Ruth in the 62nd minute of play. Joël John recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 76 minutes of play, Albany AFC's Humberto Herman made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ervin Garrett was left in no man's land by his defense there! Percy Ruth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Percy Ruth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 90 minutes into the match, Albany AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Percy Ruth came free, but Frederic Jimenez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Percy Ruth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. River Plate's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
