Martin Knowles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maurice Dykes, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. 10 minutes into the match, Renato Despins had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Martin Knowles. Cliffside's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Renato Despins was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 13th minute, Maurice Dykes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 19th match minute, River-Lions FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marlon Benson to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Cliffside's Rudolf Haynes tried to score from far away in the 20th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. River-Lions FC's Rudolf Prescott proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save River-Lions FC from getting a goal against them. Rudolf Prescott showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Buford Lanteigne in the 23rd minute of the match. A collision led to River-Lions FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Fabien Langley hit a great ball. After having played for 35 minutes, Adolphe Winn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cliffside's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adolphe Winn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After having played for 44 minutes, Maurice Dykes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River-Lions FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maurice Dykes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cliffside's Martin Knowles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maurice Dykes in the 46th minute of play. Fidel Lester hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Buford Lanteigne in the 49th minute of play forced River-Lions FC's goalkeeper Rudolf Prescott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half River-Lions FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 57th minute Maurice Dykes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Knowles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maurice Dykes struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Martin Knowles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River-Lions FC. The audience thought a goal was coming when Renato Despins got free with Martin Knowles in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Austin Charles kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Adolphe Winn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Buford Lanteigne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudolf Prescott having to interfere. Marlon Benson kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Renato Despins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martin Knowles having to interfere. If Maurice Dykes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The River-Lions FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing River-Lions FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
